With all the drama surrounding the upcoming Mulan reboot about whether or not there will be a white male character in the film (there won’t be, Disney have thankfully said that this isn’t the case) it’s time to think about just who could be playing the fan-favourite characters from the loved Disney classic. While we wait patiently for Disney to announce just who will be playing the title role I’m currently wondering who could play the Disney Captain Li Shang?
Fans took to social media on the issue of whitewashing in Hollywood as the don’t want to see Mulan, which has all Chinese characters being played by white actors. Believe me we get it. Why cast someone in a film where you know the characters are Chinese? Disney, if you need any help in finding the perfect actor to play Li Shang then we’ve got you covered.
The 32-year-old actor has made a name for himself in Hollywood and he is rather handsome. The South Korean born actor is best known for playing Glenn Rhee on The Walking Dead but has also appeared in The Big Bang Theory. As Steven has made us fall in love with Glenn on The Walking Dead, do we really need to convince you that he would melt out hearts as Shang? We know that he’ll make a man out of you.
The 36-year-old American actor is probably most well-known for his roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine as Agent Zero and more recently Criminal Minds Beyond Borders as Matthew Simmons. Daniel clearly has all of the force of a great typhoon and knows his way around weapons, need we say more?
Ki Hong Lee
Known for his role in The Maze Runner, 30-year-old Ki Hong Lee has proved time and time again just why he would be the ideal candidate for Shang as he is clearly able to move as swift as a coursing river.
Disney’s live action Mulan is set for release November 2nd 2018
