Director James Mangold has shared a photo of British actor Stephen Merchant in the upcoming Wolverine film and the character he’s playing looks awfully familiar…

Stephen’s hairless characters looks similar to the mutant Caliban who wasn’t known to he in the third Wolverine films. This mutant has however appeared briefly in X-Men: Apocalypse, the mutant (played by Tomas Lemarquis) employing Psylocke (Olivia Munn) as a body-guard.

In the comic books Caliban has tied to Mister Sinister who was teased at the end of Apocalypse, though Donald Pierce has been revealed to be the villain of Logan it’s left fans wondering just how the Sinister teaser from Apocalypse tied in.

It’s been confirmed by Mangold that Logan takes place in the future, Apocalypse took place in 1983, but when have timelines stopped the X-Men franchise from having characters defy the laws of aging and pop up in different eras?
