After the teaser that was released earlier last week fans have been waiting with bated breath to see what the trailer for Tom Cruise’s The Mummy will look like and it’s here.

As a fan of the original trilogy, well the first two films because The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor wasn’t that great in my opinion and they replaced Rachel Weisz, I’ve been waiting to see what they could pull off.

It doesn’t disappoint but it doesn’t wow me straight away. For the first trailer I think that they’ve done ok. It’s got me intrigued and I can say that I will be one of the ones that will go and see it in the cinemas when it comes out next year.

The biggest difference that this film has when you consider the three previous films is the villain. In the original films we have Imhotep played by Arnold Vosloo and Emperor Han played by Jet Li as the bad guys but in this new take we have Ahmanet played by Sofia Boutella. That’s right we have a female Mummy!

Universal Pictures released the official synopsis giving fans an idea of what the film will be like.

“Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”

The cast features Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher, Mission Impossible), Russell Crowe (Robin Hood, Gladiator), and Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Star Trek Beyond), as well as Courtney B. Vance (The People Vs. O.J. Simpson, Major Crimes), Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, Peaky Blinders), Marwan Kenzari (Ben-Hur), and Jake Johnson (New Girl, Jurassic World).
